Solaris to publish two more space operas by Ren Hutchings

Solaris are delighted to announce the acquisition of An Unbreakable World and an untitled second book by Ren Hutchings.

A space opera set in the same universe as Under Fortunate Stars 30 years before the voyage of the Jonah, An Unbreakable World follows a petty thief and a bounty hunter who are thrown together in an improbable scheme to get rich, only to become embroiled in a centuries-long political intrigue that could change the galaxy’s future.

World English Rights were acquired by David Thomas Moore from Ernie Chiara at Fuse Literary. An Unbreakable World will be released in Spring 2025.

Author Ren Hutchings on the acquisition:

“I’m thrilled to be returning to the Under Fortunate Stars universe to tell a story from a different corner of the galaxy! Like UFS, this is a space opera with a lot of feelings, a ragtag crew and a side of heists. You’ll meet a new cast of characters whose standalone adventure is set during the Contact War, and get a closer look at some of the background events that were hinted at in UFS. I’m so delighted to be working with my editor David Thomas Moore and the Solaris team on more space shenanigans!”

Acquiring Editor David Thomas Moore:

“I love heists! I love underdogs, intrigue, feelings, twists and fun. And Ren gives all those in spades. Under Fortunate Stars was an utter hoot to publish, and I’m absolutely delighted to be dipping back into that world. You’re gonna love the new kids.”
