The Rebellion Advent Calendar: Christmas Day
25th December 2015
Christmas! In the wake of the war there aren’t many presents, but through elf-power, Reindeer perseverance and some good old-fashioned Christmas magic, Santa, Rudolf and the elves muddle through.
It is the toughest Christmas on record, but children around the world get whatever the hell it was they wanted, so long as they were good-ish.
Santa gives in to Rudolf’s demands for improved working conditions, better mince pie allowances and an extended January holiday. In return, Rudolf disbands the unions and dismantles the burgeoning Rudolfite state apparatus.
At the end of the day, all are tired. But Santa and Mrs Claus lay on a truly titanic turkey, and all the elves and reindeer are stuffed beyond any reasonable measure. That evening, Claus and Rudolf share a glass of port by a roaring fire, happy to have pulled Christmas from the clutches of war.
‘Happy Christmas, Rudolf,’ says Santa.
‘Happy Christmas, Santa.’
And so, the Santa Wars drift into history, and as elves get some kip ahead of their officially sanctioned January holiday period, a familiar laugh sounds out across the North Pole:
‘Ho, ho, ho…’
