Solaris to reissue Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s literary fantasy debut, Signal to Noise
2nd November 2021
We’re thrilled to announce we’re publishing a gorgeous new edition of Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s debut, Signal to Noise, an intimate and nostalgic tale of witchcraft and music in 1980s Mexico City.
With a fully illustrated cover by celebrated artist Jim Tierney, Signal to Noise will be available in September 2022.
Mexico City, 1988. Long before iTunes or MP3s, you said “I love you” with a mixtape. Meche, awkward and fifteen, discovers how to cast spells using music, and with her friends Sebastian and Daniela will piece together their broken families, and even find love…
Two decades after abandoning the metropolis, Meche returns for her estranged father’s funeral, reviving memories from her childhood she thought she buried a long time ago. What really happened back then? Is there any magic left?
Silvia Moreno-Garcia on the reissue:
“I’m very pleased to see Signal to Noise returning with a corrected text and a brilliant new cover. I hope the reissue will allow many more readers a chance to discover this tale of music and magic.”
Artist Jim Tierney:
“I’ve been a fan of Silvia’s work since I first read this novel years ago, so the opportunity to design the cover for this new edition was both an intimidating task and an absurd honor.”
